1. Inspector Gadget 3 (IG-3) : IG-3 is a handheld scanner mapper without compromise.
Tightly coupled Lidar-IMU, RGB-D Camera, 360-Panorama and GPS, the IG-3 is the workhorse of
the SMI Group. The difference between IGs past is that IG-3 uses a solid state lidar,
which allows SMI Inc. to build IG-3 at an unbeatable price-point.
But, the true magic of IG-3 is its cutting edge software, which allows inspectors to use IG-3 to
create large continuous maps and integrate AR/VR to add semantics to the map.
2. Inspector Gadget 4 (IG-4) : Form-factor was a big focus for IG-4, featuring
tightly coupled Lidar-IMU and a high resolution FLIR Blackfly RGB camera. Featuring all the greatest
hits of IG-3, the tight form-factor of IG-4 goes anywhere you can put a DSLR. This opens up a wide
range of applications such as vehicular mount, backpack-tripod, drone etc. Inquire for details!
3. Retired Inspector Gadget (IG-R) : IG was created as a research project by the SDIC,
maintained by BEAM, to conduct structural inspections of bridges. This project is inherited by
Computer Vision and Smart Structures Lab (CViSS) at the University of Waterloo. IG handles are of a
modular design however, they are not hand portable and thus should be mounted on our robotic platforms.
